it's time for another reading. maybe for you, maybe not. take what's useful, leave the rest on the table. here's the last one. as a reminder, the positions of the cross are as follows:
- the right card is where you stand. this is the filter. if it does not describe you, don't pass through it. go no further.
- the left card is what is unimportant. effort put towards this concept is wasted, better used elsewhere.
- the top card is what is important. this is the part of yourself that demands to be understood and made use of.
- the bottom card is why it is important. this modifies the top card and should be used to adjust your understanding of that fragment of your selfhood.
- the quintessence: summed from the previous four cards, a suggestion or immediate first step

where you stand, the filter. (right): 5 of cups. disappointment. the victory of matter over spirit. the empty chalice, the dried up lake. the flowers wilt. love fades. it feels like death. of course, it isn't, but the only way to be sure is to express that fear and have it heard. Don't try to quiet yourself. Showing your hurt, worry, frustration grounds those things in reality, stops you from punishing yourself for being affected for "no reason." Take yourself seriously. You've been left unfulfilled, which means you cared enough to hope for fulfillment.
unimportant (left): prince of disks. give it up. you can't move a mountain no matter what stance you take. don't be unimaginative. there's more to life than the grind of force against force. concentration and dedication are of no use if what you apply them to simply can't receive them. testing your strength over and over won't give you new information, it'll just make you tired.
important (top): six of wands. victory. change lanes. if you're standing in the lakebed wondering where the water went and the prince of disks is digging a pit deeper and deeper into the earth looking for a new spring that isn't there, get yourself on a long stretch of freeway and gun it. there's new vistas out there. position yourself for easy success, recognize that to achieve something in your wheelhouse isn't any less of an achievement than accomplishing something after a long struggle. nobody's going to care how you got here, they're just happy you arrived.
because (bottom): hierophant. tradition without meaning is worthless. doing something a million times doesn't matter if you don't care about what you're doing. you can't bully yourself into finding meaning. if you care about finding purpose in your life you need to be prepared to take even trivial seeming bullshit seriously, rather than scolding yourself for not concerning yourself with more sophisticated or dignified matters.
quintessence: burst the old framework. overcome the prison you have built for yourself as though it was built by another. harbor no sentimentality for fruitless endeavors. risk something new.
