HÆLÏCK fucking unreal oh my jesus god |
killing spear and the youngest god. Virset was created by the Ouroboros and promptly impaled the old snake to create linear time. whether or not that was on purpose is the sort of stuff religions get made about. Other people say that Virset is the spear of the Master, hurled into creation to herald the coming of the Hounds of Id. That's the kind of stuff people get impaled for.
Virset is associated with spears, towers, gates, sanctuary and safety. Banners of Virset are massive lead spikes that create havens, protecting everyone who kisses the cold lead of the Banner daily from the kin of whatever unrotted creatures are currently impaled on it. You have to be able to see the Banner though, so huddle close at night.

the Loathsome Unicorn is associated with needles, legal documents, writing, banishment, exile, and taboo, embodying the things laws defend and rule against. The Unicorn was created when the wise of the first people fed their madmen and murderers to their horses and then lashed and whipped and drove the horses from their communities.
it impales madmen and murderers on the thicket of twisted horns that erupt from its body and carries them across the sea to its wives, the man-eating Mares of Thrace.
七五三 fucking incredible stuff |
The Starving Emperor is associated with oranges and starving children. the fruits and beasts of the world were placed there for his Hungry Majesty so that his servants can bring them to the palanquin where his frail body rests. All acts of farming and foraging are therefore sacred theft. it's really hard to eat food without Angbora cursing you with Ash-Tongue and it's really hard to stay alive once you're cursed.
The Emperor was the first of the gods (so what's the Master?) and devoured all the others before time was created by Virset. The world was created to satiate himself and put off the day (which has already passed) when he will eat the rest of the divine host.
one more time!!!!! |
Babjo
Babjo, the Splendid Coward, is a trickster god of creation and sacrifice, old women, mice, and grass puppets. he created the world in order to put off his own death at the hands of the Starving Emperor, and is the only god not fated to be devoured by his Hungry Majesty. The Coward’s Mother (enigmatic, maybe the Master's wife) wove him from grass and filled him with all the lies that will ever be spoken.

The Hounds of Id
gods of insanity, murder, and corruption, the Hounds of Id race into peoples minds from outside creation, forever fleeing from their unknown Master, or chasing his quarry. Invisible and swift as wolves, whose fear of fire and thick incense they share. they leap into your minds and eat everything except your murderous,
horny id. crack open the head of a hound-host and see the brain chewed
down to a lobotomized lump.
their hosts run alongside the rest of the invisible pack, grinding their human bodies down to paste.. Banners of Virset have no effect on them.
and one more HÆLÏCK for the road |
Crawl King Beetle, Sing Lady Centipede
protectors of the sun and moon, respectively. which are are eggs, both of them. there's something dead inside King Beetle and Lady Centipede. their guts are not their own. and there's something waiting to be born from those eggs. neither God nor Master can claim ownership of insects, which contain their own alien spiritual essence
why its Deborah Stevenson of course |
and so it stands to reason
the world was stolen from the Master and given to the Starving Emperor so that he would not eat the rest of the gods. the Master hunts gods, and humans are intended to join in this hunt. essentially humans are the physical bodies of the Hounds; the Master created them for this purpose. the Hounds are drawn especially towards fragile and/or violent people and possess them.
the Starving Emperor created the Loathsome Unicorn and gave people a stipend of horses from the Mares
of Thrace, which they could feed their murderers and madmen to in order
to create Centaurs who would hunt the Hounds. he also broke his piece of Virset and gave people pieces to make Banners and create settlements with in return they were only allowed to eat the Horn of Plenty, a goat which would deliver itself to each settlement once a year, and from which would pour good things to eat and drink, and everything else was for Angbora to eat.
but now the Hounds of Id are killing the Horns of Plenty and no longer are kept at bay by the Banners of Virset. they are taking the elderly and feebleminded now too, not just murderers
the Starving Emperor has not given people more food; instead he has drained the sea to free the Mares of Thrace, who now ravage the countryside as well, devouring people in order to become Centaurs to fight the Hounds and stuff.
